Much of the talk around the league regarding Norris Trophy candidates is centered around players such as Dan Boyle of San Jose, Shea Weber of Nashville, Brian Campbell of Chicago and Zdeno Chara of Boston.

But the Red Wings' Nicklas Lidstrom isn't quite ready to abdicate his Norris throne.

After a slow start, by his lofty standards, Lidstrom has returned to form heading into Saturday's game against Buffalo, which marks the midway point of the season. He is poised for another strong second half and is back in the running for the Norris, which is awarded to the NHL's top defenseman. Lidstrom has won it three years in a row and six of the last seven seasons.

Lidstrom has 12 points in his last 15 games, 28 points for the season.
