The Wild should be thanking the schedule makers there is a full day off before the next game, Saturday at Columbus. Maybe there's enough time for everyone on the team to take a different flight. Getting away from one another could be beneficial.

The same flu bug that sidelined left winger Stephane Veilleux earlier this week and defenseman Marek Zidlicky at the end of last week kept defenseman Martin Skoula out of Thursday's game at Philadelphia.

"It's that time of year," coach Jacques Lemaire said.

Skoula missed only the sixth game in his nine-year NHL career with an injury or illness and it was his first "non-healthy" scratch in his four seasons with the Wild.

Marian Gaborik has begun rehabilitation from surgery on his left hip. The Minnesota Wild reported late Monday the operation to repair a torn labrum and damaged cartilage went "as expected."
